ForgeArt is a sovereign art ownership platform built on BSV. It lets any artist mint, prove, sell, resell, and display their work with immutable provenance and automatic royalties. No gallery middleman taking 50%. No platform extracting 15-40%. No speculative hype cycle that burns artists when the bubble pops.
You make art. You mint it for less than a penny. The chain proves you made it, when you made it, and that nobody can take that away. When it sells, you get paid. When it resells, you get paid again. Forever. Automatically.
ForgeArt is not another NFT marketplace. It is a permanent, chain-verified ownership layer for working artists. Built for painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, and every creative who has ever been told their work has no provable value.
A U.S. copyright registration costs $65 per work. A photographer with 500 images pays $32,500 just to register what they already created. A painter producing 30 works a year pays $1,950 annually. Most artists earn less than $30,000 a year. Copyright protection is a luxury they cannot afford.
Without registration, enforcement is nearly impossible. Someone copies your painting, prints it on mugs, sells it on Etsy. Your options: hire a lawyer ($300/hour), file a DMCA takedown (they repost next week), or do nothing. Most artists do nothing.
| Platform | Commission | What the Artist Keeps |
|---|---|---|
| Traditional Gallery | 40-60% | 40-60% |
| Saatchi Art | 35% | 65% |
| Etsy | 15% (fees + ads) | 85% |
| Society6 | ~85% (low base price) | ~15% effective |
| Instagram Shop | 5% + payment fees | ~92% |
| OpenSea (NFT) | 2.5% + gas ($5-50) | ~95% minus gas |
| ForgeArt | 2.5% | 97.5% |
The gallery model was designed for a world where physical space was the bottleneck. That world ended. But the commission structure never changed. A gallery in Chelsea still takes 50% of a $2,000 painting because they have a room with white walls. ForgeArt gives you the walls for free and the proof forever.
The 2021-2022 NFT boom promised to solve artist ownership. It failed for three reasons:
The technology was right. The chains were wrong. The culture was toxic. ForgeArt fixes all three.
In the traditional art world, provenance is a paper trail: gallery receipts, auction catalogs, letters of authenticity, expert opinions. Paper can be forged. Experts can be wrong. Galleries close. Records are lost. A painting's history is only as reliable as the humans who maintained it.
On ForgeArt, provenance is a chain of transactions. Immutable. Timestamped. Publicly verifiable. The chain doesn't close. The chain doesn't lose paperwork. The chain doesn't have an opinion. It has math.
ForgeArt operates as five layers, each building on the one below. Every layer runs on BSV. Every action is a transaction. Every transaction is permanent.
The artist uploads their work (image, video, 3D model, music, any file). ForgeArt generates a SHA-256 hash of the file and inscribes it on BSV along with metadata: artist name, title, date, edition size, medium, dimensions.
Cost: approximately 0.01 BSV (less than one cent at current rates).
That's it. Your art now has an immutable birth certificate. No lawyer. No $65 fee. No 6-week processing time. One click. One cent. Permanent proof.
The mint transaction creates a provenance record that anyone can verify. If someone claims your painting is theirs, you point to the chain. Your TX was first. The timestamp doesn't lie. The hash matches your original file. Dispute over.
ForgeArt also supports certificate generation: a printable, QR-linked certificate of authenticity that connects the physical piece to its chain record. Hang it next to the painting. Scan it. See the proof.
When a collector buys a work, the transaction flows through a BSV escrow smart contract:
1. Collector sends payment to escrow address 2. Escrow verifies payment amount matches listing 3. Ownership token transfers to collector's address 4. Payment releases to artist (minus 2.5% platform fee) 5. Both sides recorded on chain Total time: ~10 seconds Total cost: ~0.01 BSV (transaction fees)
No invoicing. No payment processing delays. No chargebacks. No "the check is in the mail." The chain settles. The artist gets paid. Done.
This is where ForgeArt fundamentally differs from every platform that came before. Royalties are enforced at the protocol level, not the platform level.
When a collector resells a work, the smart contract automatically splits the payment:
Resale price: $1,000 -> Artist royalty (10%): $100 (artist-defined, 5-25%) -> Platform fee (2.5%): $25 -> Seller receives: $875 Split happens automatically. No honor system. No platform deciding to make royalties "optional." The contract executes. The math is the law.
Artists set their own royalty percentage at mint time. 5%, 10%, 25%. Whatever feels right for their work and their market. That percentage is written into the smart contract and cannot be changed by anyone, including ForgeArt.
ForgeArt integrates with the Forge ecosystem to give artists multiple display surfaces:
Every sale on ForgeArt is mediated by a BSV escrow contract. No trust required between buyer and seller. The contract holds payment until ownership transfers, then releases funds automatically.
ForgeArt Escrow Contract (BSV Script) INPUTS: - Buyer payment (BSV or ForgePay conversion) - Listing reference (TX hash of mint) CONDITIONS: - Payment >= listed price - Listing is active (not sold, not withdrawn) - Buyer address is valid OUTPUTS: - Artist receives: price - platform fee - (royalty if resale) - Platform receives: 2.5% fee - Original artist receives: royalty % (resale only) - Buyer receives: ownership token (UTXO) FAILURE MODE: - If conditions not met: payment returns to buyer - If timeout (24hr): payment returns to buyer - No funds are ever locked permanently
The royalty contract is embedded at mint time and travels with the ownership token forever. It cannot be stripped, modified, or bypassed. Every future sale of this work triggers the royalty split.
This is not a suggestion. This is not a marketplace policy that can change with new management. This is executable code on an immutable ledger. The artist gets paid because math says so.
Artists can mint limited editions. The contract enforces the edition cap:
| Action | Cost | Traditional Equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Mint a work | ~0.01 BSV (~$0.01) | Copyright registration: $65 |
| List for sale | ~0.005 BSV | Gallery listing: free (but 50% commission) |
| Sell a work | 2.5% platform fee | Gallery: 40-60%. Etsy: 15%. Saatchi: 35%. |
| Receive resale royalty | $0 (automatic) | $0 (doesn't exist in traditional art) |
| Gallery page (forever) | $0 | Squarespace: $192/yr. Shopify: $468/yr. |
Sarah is a watercolor painter. She produces 40 paintings a year, sells them for $200-800 each.
| Traditional Gallery | Etsy | ForgeArt | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual sales (30 works) | $12,000 | $12,000 | $12,000 |
| Commission/fees | -$6,000 (50%) | -$1,800 (15%) | -$300 (2.5%) |
| Minting/listing | $0 | $0 | -$0.60 (40 mints) |
| Website | $0 (gallery page) | $0 (Etsy page) | $0 (chain page) |
| Copyright protection | $0 (unprotected) | $0 (unprotected) | Included in mint |
| Resale royalties | $0 | $0 | 10% forever |
| Artist keeps | $6,000 | $10,200 | $11,699 |
Sarah keeps an extra $5,699 per year compared to a traditional gallery. And every painting she ever sold continues to generate income when collectors resell.
| Year | Active Artists | Monthly GMV | Platform Revenue (2.5%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | 100 | $25,000 | $625/mo |
| Year 2 | 1,000 | $200,000 | $5,000/mo |
| Year 3 | 5,000 | $1,000,000 | $25,000/mo |
| Year 5 | 25,000 | $5,000,000 | $125,000/mo |
Conservative projections. The global online art market was $11.8 billion in 2023. ForgeArt needs 0.5% of that to reach Year 5 numbers.
Traditional copyright: $65 per work. ForgeArt mint: $0.01 per work. That is a 6,500x cost reduction for provable ownership. There is no argument against this. Only inertia.
Kate is a real artist. She runs the Lilac Inn Gallery out of her home. She paints landscapes, florals, and abstracts. She shows at local art walks and community events. She has talent, a body of work, and no way to prove ownership of any of it.
Her Instagram has 208 followers. Her website is a free Wix page. She has never sold a painting online. She has never registered a copyright. If someone screenshots her Instagram post and prints it on canvas, she has no recourse.
208 followers, zero online sales, no IP protection. That was Kate before.
After ForgeArt: 60 chain-verified works, a permanent gallery page, QR-verified physical displays, automatic royalties on every resale, and a total setup cost of less than one dollar.
Kate didn't need to understand blockchain. She didn't need to buy cryptocurrency. She didn't need to learn what a "gas fee" is. She uploaded her paintings, clicked mint, and the chain handled the rest.
That is the standard ForgeArt is built for. Not crypto traders. Not speculators. Working artists who need protection they can actually afford.
ForgeArt does not exist in isolation. It connects to every Forge product, and each connection multiplies what an artist can do.

Anyone can verify. No account required. No API key.
The chain is public. The proof is free.
ForgeArt generates printable certificates of authenticity:
The certificate is not the proof. The chain is the proof. The certificate is a bridge between the physical world (a painting on a wall) and the digital world (a transaction on a ledger). Scan the QR. See the truth.

PLANNEDThe Demiurge built the gallery system. White walls. Velvet ropes. 50% commission. The message: your art has no value until we say it does. Your painting is worth nothing until it hangs in our room. Your talent is irrelevant until we validate it.
The Archons built the platforms. Upload your work. Build your audience. Generate engagement. They take the data. They take the commission. They change the algorithm. Your reach drops. Your sales drop. But their ad revenue doesn't.
The Divine Spark is the act of creation itself. A painter standing in front of a canvas. A photographer waiting for the light. A sculptor shaping clay. That moment of creation is sacred. It belongs to the artist. Not to a gallery. Not to a platform. Not to a speculator who bought the JPG as a lottery ticket.
ForgeArt puts the proof of creation on an immutable chain. The Archons can change their terms of service. They can adjust their algorithms. They can make royalties optional. They cannot alter a BSV transaction. The math protects what the institutions refused to.
There are approximately 2.5 million working artists in the United States alone. The vast majority of them have no provable ownership of their work. They cannot afford copyright registration. They cannot afford gallery representation. They cannot afford lawyers when their work is stolen.
ForgeArt makes ownership provable for fractions of a cent. Not someday. Now. The technology exists. The chain is live. The cost is negligible.
Every artist protected. Every work provable. Every resale paying the creator.
That is not a feature list. That is a moral position. Art belongs to the people who make it. ForgeArt makes that position enforceable.
